The salop & borders DMR CLUSTER
the SALOP & Borders DMR CLUSTER
The Cluster is on SLOT 1 / TG 75 linked to 23575 for hotspot access via Brandmeister.
The Salop & Borders DMR Cluster is a group of Digital Voice (DV) repeaters covering Shropshire & the Welsh Borders, Hereford & Worcester, Gloucestershire, Staffordshire, the Black Country (West Midlands), and the Cotswolds.
The cluster currently consists of 11 networked repeaters; GB7GT on Clee Hill near Ludlow, GB7CC on Cleeve Common near Cheltenham, GB7BJ in Malvern, GB7HC in Hereford, GB7WD in Sedgley & GB7DY in Quarry Bank in the Black Country, GB7CN in Cannock, GB7KR in Kidderminster, GB7SB in South Birmingham, GB7GB in North Birmingham, and GB7BM in Central Birmingham.
GB7BX and GB3BX are now operational on DMR only from Brown Clee, currently working on temporary aerials. We are waiting for the antennas and Internet to be installed, so they are operating as a standalone back-to-back pair, Slot 1 is linked across both repeaters, Slot 2 is local to the repeater being used. Please adhere to the Salop Cluster convention of Slot 1 / Talkgroup 75 and Slot 2 / Talkgroup 9.
Planned improvements to the network include:
- GB7KS near Kings Stanley, Stroud in Gloucestershire
- GB7WN for North Wolverhampton
- GB7EH near Banbury in the Cotswolds
The convention used across all repeaters in the Cluster is:
- Slot 1 / Talkgroup 75 linked between all repeaters in the cluster
- Slot 2 / Talkgroup 9 for local use and dynamic talkgroups to access the wider Brandmeister network (see map below)
Repeater timeout is set to 180 seconds and dynamic talkgroups on Slot 2 drop out after 10 minutes.
It is possible to configure some radios for roaming on Slot 1 / Talkgroup 75, so you can automatically move between repeaters without changing channel.
The "Talker Alias" feature of DMR is not supported.
It is important to note that the Salop & Borders DMR Cluster is an independent collection of repeaters that are NOT centrally controlled or funded. There is no club or group to join, no annual membership fee and no politics. The individual keepers have invested their own time and money, and rely totally on your goodwill and generosity to help keep them running.
If you use the Cluster, please consider making a donation towards the upkeep of your local repeater.
